Diabetes is on the rise in our communities, the percentages continue to rise rapidly as we are less aware of our bodies, what our bodies thrive on and from and our relationships to food. The main ways that we can attack diabetes is from exercise, increased water consumption, awareness about our triggers that cause us to eat what we do, how to combat unhealthy food consumption, and healthier food choices! Here are two tips to assist you with this transition as we honor YOUR HEALTH, which is honoring ourselves and our intrest and NEED to be HEALTHIER!
Alternatives to SUGAR LOADED SPREADS:
Apple Butter, Pear Butter, Mango Butter and Plum Butter!!! YUMMY! Spreadable fruit is a wonderful option or fruit preserves!
When making your own fruit preserves, do NOT add additional sugar, because sugar has its own sugar content which is enough for our palate and absolutely delightful!
Also, reduced fat and fat-free ideas are a few of my absolute favorites, which are:
Almond Butter, Organic and GMO FREE Peanut Butter, Cacao Butter, Hazelnut Butter, Coconut Butter or with Oil and adding some cacao powder!
If you are feeling really excited, try making your own cashew spread from soaked cashews, lemon juice, coconut meat and a little bit of olive oil! Yummers!
