GOOD MOOD FOOD

In a world of fast everything, fast food or conventional food products are making us more lethargic, sick more often with illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity in adults and children, high cholesterol, and various food allergies and less active, which believe it or not makes us depressed as well as a host of other mental difficulties. Unfortunately, when we think of what we eat, we do not think about how the foods we eat either boost our moods or cause triggers that take us into a downward spiral. Although this is frustrating and saddening, I am excited to bring the good news, which is that many foods offer mental boosts NATURALLY and the only side effect is HAPPINESS, HEALTHINESS and RENEWED WELL BEING!

The good mood foods increase our body’s production of chemicals and nutrients such as serotonin, and feed you with delicious vitamins, minerals, energy and FIBER! Try some of these foods to increase your serotonin levels:

Olive Oil, so fruity and versatile, I could eat Olives every day and I do use Olive Oil in many of my dishes, smoothies and baked goods, I love the flavor and what lifesavers they are. Olive Oil is a must have for every kitchen, because not only are the varying Oils tasty and amazing for your skin and hair, but they also are packed full of Monounsaturated Fatty Acids, a host of vitamins and mineral. Olives and Olive Oil is an Anti-Inflammatory, Antioxidants and lowers Cholesterol and Blood Pressure. So, put some on your lips, on  your skin as a moisturizer and your scalp and hair after conditioning then drizzle on a salad or with your favorite vegetables then sprinkle five of your favorite spices.

Avocado Oil, oh you are so delicious, creamy, and make me happy! There are so many uses for healing with this delicious green fruit! Yes, Avocado is a fruit and what a delicious one! Avocados have been used for so many centuries in so many ways to heal the body. From controlling and healing dandruff, prevent toothaches, as an antibiotic, cure for gingivitis, a healer for psoriasis, decreases high cholesterol, relieves pain associated with OsteoArthritis. So the next time that you indulge in your favorite creamy avocado remember you are eating an ancient healing fruit as well as a fruit packed full of Protein, Potassium, Magnesium, Folic Acid, Vitamin B, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. When you try Avocado Oil, try them in your next smoothie! Try 1 c Pears, 2 tbl Avocado Oil, 1 c Hemp Milk and 1 c Frozen Cherries! Deliciousness!!

Okra, oh delicious okra! Yum, Okra is packed and when I say packed I mean overflowing with soluble and insoluble fiber, healthy digestive tract bacterias that keep your gut healthy.

Kale, How do I love thee let me count the ways! Being that Kale is a member of one of my all time favorite vegetables, Cabbage, how could I not love it! Wooow do I love Kale! Oh my there are so so so many reasons that I love Kale and here are a few that might inspire you to try Kale more often. Kale has is packed full of Vitamin K, an anti-inflammatory, Lutein, Vitamin A, Potassium, Calcium, Iron and Folate. Combine Kale with your favorite vinaigarette and toss with pumpkin seeds, avocados and a few olives.

Pumpkin Seeds are so awesome! Why, because in many ancient South American cultures Pumpkin Seeds and the shell were used to make household products and tools. Now that you know why you should use the entire pumpkin, seeds and shell, now I would like to give you a few reasons why you should eat and love Pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin is packed full of Fiber, Potassium, Vitamin A, Selenium, Monounsaturated Fatty Acids, Beta Carotene, Alpha-Carotene, Lutein, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and the cholesterol lowering Phytosterols. Don’t forget if you know someone with nausea give them some dried pumpkin seeds to reduce their nausea. Now, why wouldn’t you want to eat a Pumpkin’s Seed? Don’t forget to save a few to plant your own pumpkins!
